True lies Tue, 18 Nov 2025 10:16:38 +0100 +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ As the "cloud" is just shorthand for "somebody else's computer", I think that "A.I." is in reality shorthand for "database query with chatbot interface". "What database?" you may ask, and I guess the answer is "humanity", or a partial paragraph of humanity that gets written somewhere. The important thing is to negate all notion of intelligence to this acronym. There is no reasoning entity, no god, just a chatbot algorithm pulling related data from an immense database and displaying it with a textual illusion. It's a tool, another human prothesis that can find links between seemingly disparate items and can be very usefull in a number of domains. The problem arises around financing it, the inevitable ecological price to pay, and the human factor: abuse for financial gain, and a rush to flood the market while legislation is reeling. It's not going away, although the landscape could be very different in a few years once the bubble has burst and if the requirement to differentiate between human and mechanical output becomes law. We tend to become the unhappy slaves of our own creations, from the steam engine to weapons, automobles to computers. It will be the same for "AI". ␌
