Jitsi videoconference Mon, 20 Oct 2025 20:47:21 +0200 +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ A heads up for Jitsi videoconferencing. During covid, I had to find out if my family could hold video meetings while we were in lockdown. I tested Jitsi and found that it was ideal for people who are not very familiar with computers, as all you have to do is share a link to the Jitsi meeting website and add a unique name, for example: https://meet.jit.si/my_unique_name. Since then our weekly family chats have become a ritual. If you want to organize a regular meeting, simply reuse the same name each time, but remember to use a name that no one else can find by chance. Jitsi has Iphone, Android and web clients, and it's Open Source, you can host it yourself. My experimentations taught me that it requires a lot of bandwidth, so I just use https://meet.jit.si On my Linux laptop, I use the Chromium browser for Jitsi, in fact. it's the only use I have for Chromium. I use an external microphone as the Thinkpad X220 has a somewhat crappy one.
