If you haven't been following  the political comedy here in France,
the prime minister  has just resigned after  naming his governement
yesterday.

In  June  2024 Macron  dissolved  parlament  after voters  put  the
Far  right  well  ahead  in the  European  elections.  The  ensuing
parlamentary election  filled parlament with  a third far  left and
classic left coalition, a third  centrists and classic right, and a
third far right, with the result that no side has a majority.

Being in the center means you get hit from both  sides,  pragmatism
is also boring for those who want their politics to mirror tiktok.

The  left are  led from  behind by  a mouthy  radical supporter  of
Maduro and retirement  at 60. Yes you read correctly.  It does have
some less radical members but  screaming and turning parlament into
a circus has been their  most  visible  participation  to  managing 
France.

The far right, born of post ww2 collaborators and vengeful loosers,
are led  by a dynastic  anti-european supporter of Putin, Trump and
Orban, with a cortege of highly cringeworthy members.  Their tactic
has been to lie low, abuse EU funding, and do nothing,  in order to 
project themselves as a stable solution.

Macron has  so far named 3  prime ministers from the  center, with
each failing in  ability to pass laws. Unlike some countries where
coalitions are  the norm, it isn't  a tradition in France  to work
together for the common good. It's all or nothing.        

So Macron has three options:

(1) name another ephereal PM from the center doomed from the start.

(2) name a PM from either the far left or far right, who won't have
a majority either.

(3) dissolve  parlament  with the  probability of  a resulting  far
right majority being elected.

If  that happens  there might  be  an upside,  as the  presidential
election is in 2027 and one can dream that after a taste of the far
right in power people might not reelect them anytime soon.

Whatever happens, it's a stupid useless shit show and a total waste
of energy, not to mention a dead period for France in general.
