Barking up the wrong tree Sat, 27 Sep 2025 21:55:04 +0200 +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ Extracting URL's from text files. I looked at extracting url's from gopher text files by using Lynx External commands and piping it through Urlscan. It works, BUT: 1) I can only get the external command to work on remote HTTP files, or local FILE files. 2) Urlscan completely ignores gopher:// urls (urlview doesn't) 3) It won't open in the same terminal as Lynx Sigh. I get the feeling that I'm trying to solve something that was solved by http long ago. In Gopher, you write the links at the bottom of the text file, and the client either copies it by hand , or selects it with the mouse. Gopher was originally intended to be a better ftp, not a world wide web, which is why link management is limited to gophermap files.
